Proposed Criteria for Enzyme and Transporter Models

Each function enzyme or transporter entry in this database meets the following scientific criteria:

  1. The catalytic or transport mechanism is thermodynamically feasible.
  2. The catalytic or transport mechanism is expressed in terms of chemical species so that it can account for variable biochemical state (pH, ionic strength, temperature, metal ion concentrations.)
  3. The reported parameter value estimates are sensitive to data presented to identify the model.
  4. The model has been or is currently undergoing peer review.

In addition, each entry in this database includes the following minimal information resources:

  1. A link to a peer-reviewed scientific publication describing the model details.
  2. A description of the mechanism and complete set of associated model equations.
  3. A table (or tables) of model parameter value estimates that are tissue- and species-specific.
  4. Plots of and references to the data that are explained by the model.
  5. (If possible) Links or references to data not explained by the model.
